No. 10 Softball Run Rules Fourth-Straight Opponent in 8-0 Win Over UNF

TALLAHASSEE — The No. 10 Florida State softball team (29-4, 6-0) defeated the University of North Florida (26-10, 1-5), 8-0, in five innings on Tuesday evening extending its winning streak to 18 games. The Seminoles improved to 20-1 all-time against UNF, continuing their dominance over the Ospreys.
Jazzy Francik earned the win in the circle, improving to 12-1 on the season while allowing just two hits.
Torres set the tone early leading off the game with a home run to right field. The blast marked her 12th consecutive game with a hit and her fifth home run of the season and her third home run in the last eight games.
Florida State extended its lead in the second inning as Torres delivered a bunt single and a throwing error allowed Heller to score while Torres advanced to third. A sacrifice fly by Shelby McKenzie brought Torres home, and Danley followed with a two-run home run to left field to put the Noles up 5-0.
The Seminoles maintained momentum in the third inning behind strong defense, highlighted by a Francik strikeout and a double play to keep the Ospreys of the board.
Makenna Sturgis hit an infield single, and Heller walked. Torres continued her standout performance with a double to right field, driving in both Sturgis and Heller. Beachum added an RBI single to score Torres, extending the lead to 8-0.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Florida State closed out the game in the fifth with Makenna Reid and Bella Dimitrijevic combined for two strikeouts to secure the run-rule victory.
Florida State will resume ACC play at Clemson beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. on ACCNX.
