SERIES HISTORY VS. JACKSONVILLE
FSU is 140-42 all-time against Jacksonville, including 89-14 at home, 50-28 on the road and 1-0 at a neutral site. The two teams have met twice already this season, with Florida State earning a 13-3, eight-inning road win on February 17 before a 7-6 home victory on March 3. In a series that began in 1964 and has been played every year except 1992 and 2020, and multiple times in most of those years, Florida State won 20 in a row from 1994-2002 and another 18 consecutively from 2002-2006, with just one loss separating those streaks. More recently, the Seminoles have claimed the last nine and 12 of 13 since 2022.

Florida State defeated JU 13-3 in eight innings in Jacksonville on February 17, in the team's first road and midweek game of the year. After a scoreless opening three innings, FSU scored in every other inning, including three in the fourth, six in the sixth and two in the seventh. Three players had multiple hits, three drove in multiple runs and four scored multiple runs. Redshirt sophomore left-hander Payton Manca earned the win and did not allow a run on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk in 3.0 innings. Abraham followed Manca with 2.0 shutout innings of his own and held the Dolphins to one hit and no walks with three strikeouts.

Two weeks later at Howser, on March 3, Florida State erased a 5-0 first-inning deficit and walked off Jacksonville 7-6. Down 5-0, FSU chipped away with three in the bottom of the first and one in the second and third to tie it. Putnam was the walk-off hero with a bases-loaded single to left-center in the ninth inning. Stuetzer had three hits for a second consecutive game with two RBI. Redshirt sophomore right fielder Brody DeLamielleure hit his third home run of the season. Abraham earned the win and pitched the final 2.2 innings to allow just two hits with six strikeouts and no walks.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Jacksonville is 26-20 overall, 17-9 at home and 9-11 on the road. The Dolphins are 13-11 in the ASUN and in sixth place following a series loss at North Florida from May 1-3. That snapped a streak of four consecutive series wins for JU after the team opened ASUN play with three consecutive series losses. In midweek contests, Jacksonville has won four in a row, though its last matchup was on April 21, a 7-5 win at Florida.

LAST TIME OUT: ANOTHER HOWSER SWEEP
Florida State swept Pitt at Dick Howser Stadium from May 2-3. Its second home sweep in the last three weeks, FSU took both games of a doubleheader on Saturday, 10-1 and 8-5, before a 6-4 comeback win on Sunday. It's the Seminoles' sixth ACC series win in eight weekends and third sweep. Florida State improves to 32-8 all-time against the Panthers and 29-5 at home, with a 13-8 overall mark as ACC opponents.

Mendes pitched a complete game in Saturday's opener in a 10-1 win. Throwing his first career complete game of more than 7.0 innings, Mendes allowed just one run on five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. It's the first complete game by a Seminole of at least 9.0 innings since Drew Parrish on May 25, 2018. Mendes faced the minimum in six of his nine innings and just two runners advanced past second base with less than two outs. The Seminoles scored four runs in the second inning, with the help of a Stuetzer home run, and added six in the sixth, while the Panthers were held to one solo home run in the fourth. Stuetzer had two hits, a career-high-tying four RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore shortstop Gabe Fraser also had two hits with two runs scored, one of them coming via a steal of home to become the second player to swipe home this season.

Florida State completed the two-game doubleheader sweep with an 8-5 win on Saturday evening. The Seminoles jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings, held off a four-run third inning by the Panthers and answered with two in the fifth and another in the seventh. Redshirt senior catcher Nathan Cmeyla had two hits and a season-high-tying three RBI with two runs while Fraser posted three hits and two RBI. Carns had two hits with an RBI and two runs. Carns and Cmeyla both homered in the win, going back-to-back in the fifth inning. Junior left-handed starter Trey Beard got the win and allowed four runs on seven hits in 6.0 innings. He struck out eight and walked two. Abraham pitched the final 3.0 innings and gave up one run on just two hits with five strikeouts and two walks to earn the save.

The Seminoles rallied to complete the sweep with a 6-4 victory on Sunday afternoon. Sunday's win came in comeback fashion, as single runs in the fourth and fifth innings preceded a three-run sixth to give FSU a 6-4 lead after the Panthers led 4-1 in the fourth. Senior second baseman Carter McCulley started the rally in the sixth with a leadoff home run for his second long ball of the season. That tied the game at 4-4, and an RBI triple by DeLamielleure gave Florida State a 5-4 lead. McCulley tied his career high with three hits and two runs scored. He and DeLamielleure were two of six players with multiple hits in Sunday's victory.  Junior right-hander Chris Knier earned the win, pitching the final 4.0 innings and allowing just one hit with two strikeouts and a walk. Fellow junior right-hander Bryson Moore got the start and allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits in 3.1 innings.
