SOPHOMORE (2023):
Pitched in 17 games, starting the last eight series…was 5-6 with a 4.33 ERA…65 strikeouts in 79.0 innings…career-high 8.0 innings against Mercer (5/6), FSU’s only shutout of the season…extended scoreless streak to 14.0 innings against No. 1 Wake Forest (5/13)…first nine appearances were in relief, and he made his first career start at Miami (4/1)…struck out a career-high nine batters against Pitt (3/10)…teamed with Jackson Baumeister to become the first teammates in FSU history with at least nine strikeouts in the same game…earned victories in relief against James Madison (2/18), at No. 8 TCU (2/25) and Boston College (3/17)…won his final start of the season at Louisville (5/20), allowing one earned run in 6.0 innings.
FRESHMAN (2022):
One of the top freshman relievers in the country, was 2-2 with a 2.48 ERA in 21 relief appearances…struck out 34 batters in 36.1 innings and opponents hit a team-best .188 against…struck out a season-high five batters and earned his first collegiate win in 5-0 victory against Florida…FSU’s first shutout of Florida in Tallahassee since 1993…also earned the win at Clemson with 3.1 innings of no-hit ball with three strikeouts…season-high 4.0 innings at North Carolina with no runs allowed…helped lead the Amsterdam Mohawks to the Perfect Game League championship over the summer, ending 4-0 with a 2.01 ERA over 12 games.
PERSONAL: Graduated from Sarasota High School in Sarasota, Florida…was a four-year varsity letterman in high school…threw a complete game in the 8A state semifinals in 2018, helping lead Sarasota to the state championship game…parents are Rick and Tara Whittaker…brother Dylan…majoring in interdisciplinary social science…born on June 30, 2003.
