Junior Season (2023)

Outdoor:

  • May 24-27 – NCAA East First Round –   Qualified for NCAA Finals with a fifth place finish in the 400m hurdles in 50.74
  • May 11-13 – ACC Outdoor Championship – Placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.16
  • April 28-29 – UNF East Coast – Won the 400 hurdles in a time of 50.62
  • April 22 – LSU Alumni Gold – Placed third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 50.62
  • April 14-15 — Tom Jones Invite (Gainesville, FL) – Time at 41.30 in a 16th place finish in the 400 hurdles
  • March 31-1 – Pepsi Relays (Gainesville, FL) – Runner-up in the 400 hurdles with a time of 50.84; finished 22nd in the 400m in 47.70
  • March 23-24 — FSU Relays – Won the 400 hurdles with a time of 51.51

Indoor:

Placed12th in the 400m dash (48.12) and helped the team finish third in the 4×400 relay (3:09.14) at the ACC Indoor Championship…Competed in the 200m dash (21.94) and the 400m dash (47.77) at the Razorback Invitational. Finished fourth in the 400m dash (48.11) at the Clemson Invitational.

 

2022

Outdoor: Named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team… Ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay that finished 16th (3:04.70) to earn Second-Team All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships…Ran the third leg of the 4x400m relay to help them qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 3:05.33 and finished 14th in the quarterfinals of the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.04…Won the ACC title in the 400m hurdles with a time of 50.36 and helped the 4x400m relay (3:05.83) to a second-place finish at the ACC Championships…Placed second in the 400m hurdles (51.38) at the UNF Invitational…Finished sixth in the 40oH with a personal best time of 50.21 and ran the third leg of the 4×100 relay team that finished ninth (3:04.74) at the Tom Jones Invitational… Competed for 13th place in 400H (51.40) at the Florida Relays…Placed second in 400H (50.92) for a new personal record and first place in 4×400 relay (3:07.67) at the Florida State Relays

Indoor: Competed for 15th place in the 400m prelims at the ACC Indoor Championships…Finished 31st in the 400m dash with a time of 48.05 at the Tyson Invitational… Rivera finished 33rd in the 800m with a time of 1:57.89 and third in the distance medley with a time of 10:03.79 (47.645 – leg 2) at the Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational… Rivera opened his 2022 season at the Clemson Invitational with a 17th-place finish in the 300m (34.85) and an eighth-place finish in the 400m (49.51).

 

2021

Indoor: Competed at the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships helping the 4×400 finish fifth (3:11.21) and the DMR finish ninth (10:25.31).

Outdoor: Competed at the ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships earning a new personal best 400H time of 53.41 finishing in ninth.

2020

Indoor: Saw action in three meets…competed in the 400 at the Orange & Purple Invitational and the Bob Pollock Invitational…also ran the 4×400 at the Orange & Purple and closed out his season by competing in the 800 for the first time at the Tiger Paw Invitational.

Personal

Promising hurdler at the collegiate level after a decorated high school career…projects as an impact performer in the 400 hurdles based on his 2019 personal-best of 37.11, which he ran in a runner-up finish at the Great Southwest Classic and ranked No. 22 nationally…also finished 10th at New Balance Nationals in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best of  52.81…also owns a 110-meter hurdles personal best of 13.86…was Florida 4A 300 hurdles runner-up in 2019…won six of 10 300-meter hurdles finals as a senior, including FSU Relays, district and region titles…was runner-up at prestigious Arcadia Invitational in California…was the 2018 4A state champion in the 300 hurdles with a junior year best of 37.14…also placed seventh in 110-meter hurdles finals…was a four-year member of the track & field team at Lakewood Ranch…also ran cross country as a freshman…brother John Rivera Jr. also starred at Lakewood Ranch in the middle distance events and is a junior competing for Ole Miss…the son of John and Susan Rivera…his father played soccer at Penn State…is undecided on a major…born Nov. 16, 2000.
