Will be counted on to become a counting member of Florida State’s lineup in her second season as a Seminole…played in one event as a freshman – the Florida State Match Up as an individual – and was a member of the Seminoles’ first-ever ACC Championship team…helped Florida State to the 2025 ACC Championship, the 2025 NCAA Lexington Regional Championship, and to a program-best third place finish in the 2025 NCAA Championship Finals…a quietly confident player who rarely shows emotion on the course…her high school teammates naming her the ‘Ice Queen” for her ability to freeze opponents out of matches…despite her outwardly cool persona on the golf course inside she harbours a burning passion for the game…is very focused on continuing her progression as a player at Florida State with the aim of becoming a world-class golfer…one of the top junior golfers in Scotland…a member of the Scottish Women and Girl’s High-Performance Squad and a Sports Scotland adopted athlete…gained her first full international cap representing the Scotland Women’s Team at the 2024 European Championships in Spain…she has also represented the Scotland U16’s in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and the U18 Scotland Girls team at the European Girls Team Championships and Home International in 2022 and 2023…individually she has excelled at all levels (Club, County and Country) and was the first female Junior Captain and Junior Champion of Royal Troon Golf Club in 2023…she has twice won her county girls championship and was the youngest ever county women’s championship at age 15…she has earned 18 wins and 20 other top 10’s in her 61 multi-round/ WAGR ranked tournaments played during her high school years…her highlights include her win over an international field at the 2022 Scottish U16 Open Strokeplay Championship, runner up in the 2023 Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Championship finals at Qunita do Lago in Portugal where she shot a course record 66 in the final round and runner up in the 2024 Scottish Ladies Amateur at Nairn Dunbar Golf club where she lost to the R&A Amateur Championship Finalist Lorna McClymont…she owns two single round course records to her name (Luffness Golf Club - 69 and Powfoot Golf Club – 67)…named to the Academic Dean’s List during the fall of 2024 – her first semester on campus…earned Florida State academic Dean’s List honors during both her first two semesters on campus (fall of 2024 and spring of 2025)…averages 77.00 strokes in three rounds during one event entering her sophomore season at Florida State.

Currently representing Scotland In the Women’s Home Internationals at the Woodhall Spa Golf Club in England (August 6-8)...teamed with Rosie Maguire and fell to Nellie Ong and Lily Hurst of England, 2&1, in the opening day doubles play...fell, 1Up, to England's Amelia Wan in single play on the first day of competition...teamed with Rosie Maquire and fell to Carys Worby and Emily James of Wales by a 3&1 score in the Thursday foursome competition…finished tied with Isobel Kelly of Wales in the Thursday singles play…Wales defeated Scotland, 11-10, on the second day of competition…played with Rosie Maguire in the Friday Foursomes and fell by a 5&4 margin to Anna Dawson and Rebekah Gardner of Ireland…
SUMMER 2025
Finished in second place in the individual standings in the Boyd Quaich Women's Championship at historic St. Andrews...played in the The Women's Amateur at the Narin Golf Club in Scotland...totaled scores of 82-76 for a 158 total in the first 36 holes but did not advance to to match play in the Women's Amateur...shot a 3 under par 73 and was in first place after the first round of the 2025 Boyd Quaich...was the overall leader with one round remaining to be played in the Boyd Quaich Tournament ...the overall leader with scores of 73-71-72 and a 54-hole total of 216...she carded 16 birdies and one eagle in her first three rounds of play...finished the Boyd Quaich Tournament in second place with scores of 73-71-72-77 for a four-round total of 293...finished as the rummer-up inthe event the Eildh Henderson who finished the event with scores of 74-72-71 and a 72 hole total of 291...with scores of 77-73 and a two-round total of 150, she finished in a tied for 72nd place in the stroke play portion of the European Ladies' Team Championship…Scotland finished in 18th place in the team standings during two rounds of stroke play…Scotland played in the Flight C championship bracket in match play…totaled a 1-2 record in match play at the 2025 European Ladies' Team Championships...helped lead Scotland to a 3-2 win over Finland in the first round of match play…defeated June Weckman of Finland, 3&1, in match play to lead Scotland to wins in three of the five match play events in the first round…fell to Eva Kiri Fevzer (Slovenia), 3&2, as Slovenia defeated Scotland, 3-2 in Flight C on Day 2 of the European Ladies' Team Championships...fell, 2&1, to Matylda Krawczynaka (Poland) as Scotland tied Poland, 2.5-2.5...In a tie for 124th place with a 4 over par score of 77 in the first round of the European Ladies Individual Championship…carded a 1 under par score of 72 in the second round and is in a tie for 95th place after 36 holes in the European Ladies Individual Championships…advanced to play in the final two rounds of the European Ladies with scores of 77-72 and a two-round total of 149…totaled four birdies and an eagle in shooting a second round under par scores of 72 to advance in the championship…carded a 2 under par score of 71 in the third round for a 54-hole total of 220 and was in a tied for 78th place in the individual standings with one round left to play…missed the cut in the European Ladies Amateur Championship and completed her play with a three round score of 1 over par 220

A redshirt season…made her Florida State debut as she played as an individual in the Florida State Match Up at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club... finished in a tie for 37th place while playing as an individual in the Match Up with scores of 83-71-77 and a three-round total of 231 (+15)...carded a career-low 71 in the second round of the Match Up and was in a tie for 36th place after 36 holes with a total of 154...her second round score of 71 included four birdies and 16 holes played at par or better…averaged 77.00 strokes in three rounds during one tournament.

BEFORE FLORIDA STATE
Graduated from Marr College in the summer of 2024…is an all-round student athlete, who has represented her county as a swimmer…while swimming was an early love, her competitive nature realized her small feet were not going to take her to an Olympics so she decided to swap the practice pool for the golf course…also an excellent all-round field hockey player having turned down national trials to pursue her golfing career…continues to combine her golf with school hockey where she is equally comfortable on defense, midfield, or attack…represented her high school on the first team as sophomore, junior and seniors year…led her team to the national finals in her sophomore and senior years…while primarily a Rugby and Field Hockey School, Marr College also has a long history of nurturing talented golfers that have excelled in the amateur game at national and international level…was recognized as the best golfer (male or female) by winning the Scott Roxburgh Memorial Trophy in her sophomore, junior and senior years…was also recognized during her graduation ceremony as Senior Sports Performer of the Year beating three other nominees who also competed at national / international level in their chosen sports…graduated high school with a 3.3 GPA…an ‘A’ grade English student where she excelled in creative writing…gives back to her community as a mentor and ambassador for the Stephen Gallacher Foundation, regularly fund raising for her schools chapter of the ‘Children in Need’ charity.

Born: March 31, 2006…Freya is the daughter of Craig and Gaynor Russell…has an older brother, Fraser, and a beloved Black Labrador, Tilly…comes from a golfing family…Freya’s older brother is the current captain of The University of The Highlands and Islands Golf Team whose home course is the world famous Royal Dornoch…her dad and Uncles all played College Golf in Great Britain (her dad and uncle Neil played for the University of Cambridge, while her Uncle Gary Captained the University of St Andrews to win both the Scottish and British University Championships…her Mum took up the game later in life so she could spend time with her family…the Russell’s all play their golf at Royal Troon Golf Club…nicknamed the “Ice Queen”.
