TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Volleyball team (18-8, 12-2) will have a busy weekend as they travel to Syracuse (2-22, 0-14) for a match on Friday at 6 p.m. and return home to face rival Miami (16-8, 9-5) on Sunday at 1 p.m. Florida State is coming off a big week as they were selected as the NCAA Women's Volleyball Team of the Week and Kiari Robey was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Seminoles enter the weekend in a four-way tie for first place in the ACC. No 4. Louisville, No. 7 Pittsburgh, No. 8 Georgia Tech, and Florida State all have a 12-2 conference record.
The Noles will be confident heading into Friday's match as they have yet to lose to Syracuse, leading the series 14-0. Their first match of the season against each other was less than a month ago when Florida State swept Syracuse, 3-0 (25-12, 26-24, 25-19). Florida State held the Orange to a .000 hitting percentage as they registered 26 kills to 26 hitting errors. A victory on Friday would build on their momentum winning 13 of the last 15 matches.
Sunday will be another battle against rival Miami. Their first meeting came back on October 4th when the Seminoles defeated the Hurricanes in five sets, 3-2 (25-27, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 15-6). Junior outside hitter Audrey Koenig set a career-high with 24 kills, leading the Noles to victory. Sunday's match will be Military Appreciation Day presented by VyStar and will include recognition of current and former military members.
FSU is climbing towards the top of the ACC and national statistics standings. The Seminoles are second in the ACC and sixth nationally with a .301 hitting percentage. Khori Louis's .438 hitting percentage ranks third in the ACC and seventh nationally. Kiari Robey ranks sixth in the ACC in both hitting percentage (.402) and blocks per set (1.21). Koenig's 3.45 kills per set ranks sixth in the ACC.
Both matches will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Live Stats can be followed on the FSU Volleyball Website.
