No. 3 FSU Faces No. 2 Georgetown in NCAA Third Round

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The No. 3-seeded Florida State soccer team will play at No. 2-seeded Georgetown in the NCAA Third Round on Sunday, November 23, at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C.
After both teams advanced from Thursday's Second Round in D.C., the winner of Sunday's match will move on to the NCAA Quarterfinals as one of the last eight teams remaining.

Making its 26th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and playing in the Third Round for the 22nd time overall and the seventh time in the last eight years, Florida State is coming off a 1-0 neutral-site win over Lipscomb in the Second Round on November 20. FSU began NCAA play with a 4-0 home victory against Samford.
Unbeaten in its last five games with a 12-3 scoring margin, FSU is 12-2-4 on the season, 7-1-2 at home, 4-1-2 on the road, 1-0-0 at a neutral site, 2-2-1 against top-25 opponents and 2-0-1 in the postseason. The Seminoles finished fourth in the ACC with a 6-2-2 record and made the conference tournament for the 31st time, the only program to make the postseason event every year in the team's history. FSU played three of the four No. 1 seeds in this year's NCAA Tournament in ACC play, going 1-2-1 against those three squads.
With four national championships and 14 College Cup appearances, Florida State is 85-19-6 (.800) all-time in the NCAA Tournament. That includes a 17-3-1 record in the Third Round, 14-0-1 at home, 1-3-0 on the road and 2-0-0 at a neutral site. The team's lone defeats came in 2000, 2002 and 2017, with 2017 also the last time FSU played a road game in the Third Round. The Seminoles have made the NCAA Tournament every year since 2000 and have made the Third Round in all but four seasons.
Hosting the Second and Third Rounds, Georgetown is 16-3-3 on the season and is playing in its 16th NCAA Tournament. The Hoyas and Seminoles will meet for the first time on Sunday.
FSU has scored 48 goals with 51 assists on 340 shots and 151 shots on goal in 2025. In 18 games, the team has allowed 13 goals on 119 shots, 45 on target, with 32 saves for a 0.718 goals-against average and a .711 save percentage.
Junior forward Jordynn Dudley leads the team with 30 points, 12 assists and 66 shots and is second with nine goals and 26 shots on goal. She had a point in 13 consecutive games with multiple points in four of the last five matches to conclude the regular season. Sophomore forward Wrianna Hudson paces the team with 12 goals and 32 shots on goal and is second with 25 points. In goal, freshman Kate Ockene has made 12 saves in her 10 appearances for a .667 save percentage and a 0.76 goals-against average.
In the national rankings, FSU is No. 6 in the country in goals per game (2.67), No. 7 in assists per game (2.83) and points per game (8.17), No. 8 in shots per game (18.89) and shots on goal per game (8.39), No. 9 in shutout percentage (.611), No. 10 in goal differential (+35), No. 11 in corner kicks per game (7.06) and No. 25 in goals-against average (0.718)
Individually, Dudley is third in the NCAA in assists per game (0.67), eighth in total assists (12), 19th in points per game (1.67) and 28th in total points (30). Hudson ranks No. 8 in shot accuracy (.640), No. 26 in goals per game (0.67) and No. 29 in total goals (12).
In the final regular-season poll, Florida State remained at No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches top-25, released on November 4. The Seminoles also are seventh in this week's Top Drawer Soccer poll.
SERIES HISTORY VS. GEORGETOWN
Florida State and Georgetown have never played before. Against current Big East opponents, the Seminoles are 9-3-0, including 2-1-0 in road contests and 2-2-0 in NCAA Tournament play. The most recent meeting was a 2-0 home victory over Villanova last season, and the Wildcats also are the last Big East team FSU faced on the road, with a 5-0 win in 2019. FSU is 4-2-0 against UConn, 2-1-0 vs. Marquette, 1-0-0 against St. John's and 2-0-0 vs. Villanova.
In the NCAA Tournament, the Seminoles suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 4-seeded UConn in the 2002 Third Round, followed by a 2-0 defeat to the Huskies in the 2003 national semifinal in Cary, North Carolina, Florida State's first College Cup berth. FSU and UConn met again in 2007, where a 3-2 home win sent the Garnet and Gold back to the College Cup en route to their first appearance in the national championship game. The last time the Seminoles faced a current Big East side in the NCAA Tournament was 2010, where FSU bested Marquette 3-0 at home in the Third Round.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown is 16-3-3 on the season, 8-1-2 at home, 7-1-1 on the road and 1-1-0 at a neutral site. The Hoyas won the Big East with a perfect 10-0-0 record before going 1-1-0 at the conference tournament. GU is 4-1-1 vs. top-25 opponents, with wins at No. 15 Virginia Tech and No. 10 South Carolina early in the season and a 4-0 triumph at No. 18 Xavier on November 1. Georgetown's 2-0 loss to Xavier in the Big East title game snapped a 12 game win streak.
The Hoyas advanced to the Third Round 4-3 on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw to No. 7-seeded West Virginia on November 20. The team opened NCAA play with a 3-0 win over Sacred Heart on November 14. In the Third Round for the first time since 2020, GU has made 16 NCAA Tournament appearances and 14 in a row. Georgetown reached the College Cup in 2016 and 2018.

Florida State defeated Lipscomb 1-0 in the NCAA Tournament Second Round on Thursday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The Seminoles registered their 11th clean sheet of the season while halting the Bisons' four-game win streak. FSU became the first team to score on LU in five games, as Lipscomb looked for a second consecutive upset in this year's NCAA Tournament.
Senior defender Heather Gilchrist netted the game-winning goal in the 24th minute on a corner kick assist from sophomore midfielder Taylor Suarez. The score is Gilchrist's fifth career goal and fourth of the season. It is her third game-winner.
Florida State controlled the pace offensively, posting 20 shots to Lipscomb's four, with a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal. FSU took seven corner kicks to LU's one. Freshman goalkeeper Kate Ockene registered her third consecutive complete game shutout with one save. The Bisons' keeper made five saves. Dudley had five shots and two shots on goal, both game highs.
