Senior Chilean high jumper is coming off his most productive campaign as a Seminole…registered collegiate-best marks both indoors and outdoors…scored at both the ACC indoor and outdoor championship meets for the second consecutive year.
2015
Opened the outdoor season with his collegiate-best clearance of 2.08m (6-9.75) for the win at the Bulls Invitational…his outdoor highlight came at home when he earned second-team All-ACC honors with a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships, helping the Noles to the team title…closed indoor campaign with bronze medal at ACC Championships, clearing 2.11m (6-11) – a new career-best – for first-team All-ACC honors…that was his best mark, indoors or outdoors, since opening up with 2.10m clearance at Auburn Invitaitonal.
2014
High jumped in eight meets for the Noles during the outdoor season…finished sixth at the ACC Outdoor Championships, clearing 2.04m (6-8.25)…his season-best mark (2.05m/6-8.75) came at the FSU Twilight, which he matched a week later at the Georgia Tech Invitational…posted his second collegiate event win outdoors at the Seminole Invitational…Hurtado-Arteaga’s collegiate-best clearance came at the ACC Indoor Championships, where he navigated 2.07m (6-9.50) to place seventh…it capped a steady progression which began with a 2.05m mark at the Cherry & Silver Invitational, followed by a 2.06m (6-9) at the Tyson Invitational.
2013
Highlight of his freshman year came at the ACC Outdoor Championships where he scored a seventh-place finish at the Noles won the team title at NC State…his top mark of the year came at Mike Long Track with a clearance of 2.06m, which was good for runner-up finish at the FSU Relays…began his freshman outdoor season with a bang, winning the UNF Spring Break Invitational with a season-best mark of 2.05m…saw action in five indoor meets, with his best mark (2.02m/6-7.50) coming at the Razorback Invitational.
Personal
Followed in the footsteps of former Noles and fellow Chileans Gonzalo Barroilhet and Tom Riether…was Chile’s national champion in the high jump in both 2011 and 2012…cut his teeth at the junior level while representing his country…grabbed the bronze at the 2011 South American Junior Championships and placed fifth at the 2011 Pan American Junior Championships…majoring in business at FSU…born June 26, 1993.
