No. 7 FSU Travels to Jacksonville Tuesday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 7 Florida State baseball team returns to the road for its second midweek game of the season to face Jacksonville on Tuesday, February 25, in Jacksonville, Florida.
First pitch at JU's John Sessions Stadium is at 6 p.m. ET.
FSU has won seven in a row to begin the season and is coming off a weekend sweep of Penn.

The Seminoles are 7-0 on the season, with weekend sweeps of James Madison and Penn around a victory at USF one week ago. Florida State has won at least seven in a row to start a season in back-to-back years, the first time it has achieved that feat since the 2018 and 2019 teams began with 14- and 12-game win streaks, respectively.
NATIONALY-RANKED SEMINOLES
The Seminoles moved up in four major polls this week, including to No. 7 in the D1Baseball top-25. They are No. 5 in the Baseball America and Perfect Game polls and No. 6 by The Athletic. College Baseball Central has FSU at No. 4.
NOLES BY THE NUMBERS
Florida State is No. 3 in the country with a 1.35 ERA, No. 4 with two shutouts, No. 11 with 5.55 hits allowed per nine innings, No. 14 with a 1.00 WHIP, No. 17 with 83 hits, No. 20 with 12.0 strikeouts per nine innings, No. 21 with 9.9 runs per game, No. 22 with a 3.48 strikeout-to-walk ratio, No. 23 with a .336 batting average and No. 24 with 69 runs scored.
FSU batters have hit 10 home runs with nine doubles, 60 RBI and 35 walks with a .510 slugging percentage. Pitchers have allowed 12 runs, nine earned, with two home runs and a .175 opponent batting average with three saves.
Individually, junior left-handers Jamie Arnold and Joey Volini and sophomore lefty Wes Mendes are No. 3 in the country with two wins, Arnold is fourth with a 0.27 WHIP, junior outfielder Gage Harrelson is No. 23 with 12 runs scored and five stolen bases and junior infielders Drew Faurot and Alex Lodise are No. 25 with three home runs.
Arnold is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 11.0 innings, while he and Mendes both have 16 strikeouts and Arnold has not walked a batter. Harrelson leads the team with 13 hits and a .433 batting average, and he and Faurot share a team-leading 11 RBI.
SERIES HISTORY VS. JACKSONVILLE
Florida State is 135-42 all-time in the in-state series against Jacksonville. FSU is 48-28 in road games with back-to-back wins. The Seminoles have won four in a row in the series, including all three in 2024, and seven of the last eight. This year will mark the fourth consecutive year Florida State will play at JU once and host the Dolphins twice.
A year ago, FSU posted a 7-4 win in Jacksonville on February 20, followed by two home wins, 5-3 on April 2 and 7-6 in 11 innings on May 7. Faurot, Cal Fisher and Jaxson West all had multiple hits in the series and Lodise had two RBI. On the mound, John Abraham earned the win in game three.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Jacksonville is 3-4 on the season after a three-game sweep of Illinois State last weekend. JU opened with a 2-0 victory on Friday, followed by a 12-7 win on Saturday. The series concluded with a 9-6 Sunday win. The Dolphins began the year with a trio of losses to No. 21 West Virginia from Feb. 14-15, though two games were decided by one and two runs. Last midweek, Jacksonville lost to No. 10 Florida 10-4.
As a team, JU is hitting .233 with 51 hits, four home runs, 10 doubles and 30 RBI. The Dolphins have a 5.46 ERA with 40 runs allowed on 59 hits with 53 strikeouts. Batters are hitting .258 with five home runs against Jacksonville pitchers.
Josh Steidl leads the team with a .381 batting average and three home runs, is tied for the team lead with seven RBI and is second with eight hits. Jaden Bastian has nine hits and nine runs scored, both pacing the team, and he is second with a .360 batting average. Three pitchers are 1-1, while Nick Anello has not allowed a run in 6.0 innings in relief with six strikeouts.

The weekend began with a 24-2 run-rule win in seven innings on Friday. The Seminoles' 24 runs came on 20 hits, all of them singles except for a Faurot home run. All nine starters had a hit and at least an RBI or a run scored, with six of them notching at least one of all three. Five starters, and six players total, had multiple hits and either one or more RBI or run scored, with three having multiple hits, RBI and runs scored. FSU scored 20 or more runs for the first time since last season's 24-4 NCAA Super Regional victory over UConn. The 22-run margin of victory is the team's best since a 24-1 triumph over USF on March 3, 2015.
On Saturday, a 9-3 win was fueled by freshman catcher Hunter Carns, who had a career day with four hits, his first collegiate home run and four runs scored. Florida State was 6-15 (.400) with runners on and 3-10 (.300) with runners in scoring position while stranding five. The Quakers left 13 on and were 4-20 (.200) with runners on base and 1-10 (.100) with runners in scoring position.
The sweep was completed with a 5-3 win on Sunday. Lodise homered for the second consecutive day and two players had two hits and an RBI. On the mound, Mendes improved to 2-0 on the year. In 5.0 innings, he held Penn to one run on three hits with eight strikeouts and one walk. Junior righty Ben Barrett got the final two outs and earned his second collegiate save and first in 2025.

SELLING OUT HOWSER
Seminole fans have wasted no time filling Dick Howser Stadium in 2025, with three sellouts through six games. Those capacity crowds of 6,700 are tied for No. 7 on FSU's all-time attendance list at the ballpark that opened in 1983. Two sellouts against James Madison and one against Penn are the first three games to eclipse 6,600 against a team that wasn't in-state rivals Florida and Miami.
